The 1st Annual St. Justin School National Geographic Bee

The First Annual St. Justin School National Geographic Bee was held, at morning assembly, January 14, 2014. Twelve finalists, from grades 4-8, competed for the school championship. Faculty, K-8 students, parents and friends enthusiastically cheered on all the participants, who were finalists from their individual class bees. After many competitive rounds, two finalists remained: Keegen Vogel, grade 7, and Justin Polk, grade 8, who then entered the final championship round. The excitement built to a crescendo as both boys remained neck and neck and several championship tiebreaker questions were needed to decide our winner! Taking home the title of The National Geographic Bee champion was Keegen Vogel, who answered a question correctly about The Donets Basin located in Russia and the Ukraine. The next step for Keegen is a written, multiple choice Qualifying Test to advance to the state level. The 2014 National Geographic Bee will be held in May, in Washington, DC. Congratulations to all our finalists, and to our school champion, Keegen Vogel!
