St. Justin School Celebrates INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
St. Justin School Student Council led the celebration of International Day of Peace on Thursday, Sept. 18 through a special prayer service during morning assembly. The ceremony began with the Prayer of St. Francis. St. Francis of Assisi has taught us to always live our faith even sometimes through words. The Student Council reminded students that we should “Pay Peace Forward” by our actions towards others.
Student Council members decorated the “Peace Tree” with various symbols of peace from our faith and from many cultures. The tree resides in the school foyer and serves as a reminder that peace is a desire of people from all over the world. The event concluded with the entire student body singing “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
The first Day of Peace was celebrated in September 1982 and in 2002, September 21st was declared the permanent date for the International Day of Peace. At St. Justin School, we foster the development of faith-filled individuals who are responsible and socially just citizens! The International Day of Peace reflects our school mission.
