Advent Novena

Advent is a time of giving.  Jesus teaches, “ Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25)

During the nine days of the Novena, each St. Justin child has the opportunity to share a gift with a local family experiencing financial hardship. Children are taught to contribute some time toward earning money to purchase the gift. The amount of money earned and the cost of the gift aren’t as important as experiencing the process of giving. Whenever possible, children choose what to purchase, save for it, and shop for it.

This gift giving is voluntary and some may not be able to afford to purchase actual gifts.  If this applies children are encouraged to make a card that gives a Spiritual Bouquet (prayers) to those being served.

Children may give a gift on any day(s) of the Novena or just on the day your his or her class is assigned.

Everything that is donated is distributed through the St. Justin Community Ministry Program. The annual Advent Novena makes Christmas a truly prayerful and positive season of giving.

It is in giving that we receive.”
