38th Annual 8th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament at St. Justin School
St. Justin School hosted the 38th Annual 8th Grade Boys Basketball Tournament in February. The Student Council kicked off the five-day event by organizing a Basketball Rally. The whole student body, from Kindergarten to 8th grade, attended the rally and participated in various basketball games and activities while teachers took turns shooting free throws. In addition, St. Justin School’s student council also led Spirit Week by having students wear class colored shirts, pajamas, dress according to a certain decade, and crazy hair or hats on specific days during the week.
The tournament is a community-building event could not happen without Athletic Director, Mr. George Santich. Mr. Santich has been with St. Justin School since 1970, for a total of 44 years and still going strong. He coaches boy’s football, boys/girls basketball, and girl’s softball. He is also the 8th Grade Algebra teacher. Through this Basketball Tournament, he is able to bring St. Justin alumni, parents, and the rest of the St. Justin community together. Parents worked at the snack counter, kept score, and simply cheered for the boys.
The Basketball Tournament showcased schools in the Diocese, including Canyon Heights, Sacred Heart, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, St. Gregory, St. John Vianney, St. Lawrence, St. Leo, St. Lucy, St. Martin, St. Mary Gilroy, St. Mary Los Gatos, St. Nicholas, St. Victor, and Queen of Apostles.
This year’s Basketball Tournament proved to be another success! St. Justin School is grateful for having Mr. Santich and for bringing everybody together to cheer on our athletes!
